The first full bloom opened on my hibiscus today. Beautiful!!

Memory boxes

I finally got around to painting two memory boxes I've had FOREVER. The Heart of Texas Tolers paints these for St. David's for famililes who have lost infants. It's such a good cause. The blue one is me playing with colors and doodles, and the other is a design from an old Decorative Artist's Workbook. Felt good to finish up some projects today.

Handbag

Today was the last day of the 3-part Beginning Sewing class at Stitch Lab. I made a trapeze bag. I am over the moon with how it turned out. It's so professional looking! :-D

Gnome

My first truly original work. I painted a background with my Twinkling H2Os, and doodled a little gnome, made it all into a bookmark as a little present for my friend's b-day. Simple, but a pretty signficant step for me. Hopefully the first of many steps towards letting myself play and embrace the artistic, creative side of myself. And of course the fun of making a heartfelt gift for a friend.

Embroidery

So cool to take an embroidery class. Sometimes it's just so much easier when someone shows you!! We made a fun little sampler. It was fun, inspiring and awesome!! I just love Stich Lab.

Collage

Wow, after about 4 months I finally finished up my two mixed media collages. The owls are felt and embroidery, and I painted the tree, and then used maps for the leaves. I'm pleased with the results. :-D

Pillow

For the second sewing class at Stitch Lab we made a fancy pillow with a zipper and piping. I managed to make the pillow without ripping anything out or jamming my machine. whoo hoo!

Plants

Flowers and green galore on my balcony!! I'm hoping the hibiscus will attract some hummingbirds.

Drawstring Bag

I'm taking a beginning sewing class at Stitch Lab. It's so much fun. This was our first project: a drawstring bag.

Strawberry

I enjoyed my first strawberry yesterday! Sadly only one juicy ripe flavorful strawberry. Maybe I'll get more next year.
