Shelly Leggings

I've been wanting to make some leggings for awhile and so when the Self Sewn Wardrobe Series I took extended classes, I readily agreed to make some leggings with the group.

We decided to make Seamwork's Shelly leggings. It didn't require 4-way stretch and the high waist seemed to appeal to all of us. I was intrigued by the crotch gusset. It's my new favorite phrase. :-D

They worked up super fast. I chose to make the XL which my 48" hip measurements fell into the range, but thought might be a bit tight since my waist is 42". I needn't have worried. These were quite large. They seemed about 3" too big in the waist and not super snug in the hips. Since knits are forgiving, I was able to go back over the waist seem to take out the extra fabric and ease into the back seam.

I can't decide if these don't allow enough room in the crotch, or too much. They still aren't snug enough and slip down as the day goes and crotch droops a bit. I wear them as lounge pants now. I don't know if the crotch gusset impacted the fit. It's a big gusset going all the way to mid thigh. Or if it's just a poor choice in fabric. It met the stretch requirements and seems to have decent recover. It's some knit fabric I picked up at Joanns.

Instructions were good and it was a quick easy pattern, but I wouldn't make these again.

Sailor Top

I added an inch to the front, back and sleeves of the Sailor top and I am sew happy with the fit. Also super happy with the Stellar Sub Chambray in Cobalt. So soft and lovely.

Ebony Raglan Tee

I took a break from woven and whipped up a tee using the Closet Case Ebony pattern. Once I realized I marked the back and front of the sleeve patterns wrong, it was pretty easy. :-D
