Yard work

Planting the trees last weekend seemed to be just the beginning of yard work for us. I did more weeding, and had fun planting some flowers in the front bed. I planted verbena, dianthus, zinnia "profusion white", and then in the back of the bed I planted agyranthemum cherry red and "Georgia blue" creeping speedwell. The front of the house faces west, so hopefully these guys will do well with the full afternoon sun.

We also decided to border our plant beds and around the trees with rock. When they build new houses and dig up the ground there are just tons of rock. So we stopped at a couple of places for rock. I saw this big rock and thought it was really cool. It was really heavy, and I figured Tony and I wouldn't be able to get it home. However, my dear husband persisted and with my help we got the monster home. The irony is I used to tease my Mom for wanting to stop and pick up rocks by the side of the road!

Spring Wreath

When my Mom came to visit in January, she made this wreath for me. I hung it up a couple of weeks ago. I figure since it's been in the 80s it was appropriate to hang a spring wreath. :-)

Entry rug

This was our Christmas present from Tony's Mum. It's an indoor/outdoor rug so I hope it stands up well, and I hope the cats don't scratch the hell out of it!

Cardboard tubes

Mo has a weird way of playing. He's completely fascinated by cardboard tubes. He sticks his head in and then moves his paws around to find one of his toys. Sometimes he just leaves the tube on his head for a bit and looks around. Weird, but highly entertaining.

Trees

So last July, our builder put two live oaks in our backyard, and they quickly died. They refused to replace them, so we finally replaced our two dead sticks with new, live sticks. There's really almsot no difference between the dead tree sticks and the live tree sticks! We got a Chinese pistache and bur oak. Tony dug the holes--I think I owe him big time. Hopefully in a couple of years we'll have two lovely trees. Mostly I just hope they stay alive!

Easter Bunnies

We painted these cute resin bunnies at the monthly Heart of Texas Tolers meeting. I'm not sure I like resin; it really soaked up the paint so most of the basecoats took 3 coats. Anyway--they turned out cute.

Pool Table Cover

Tony made a ping pong table cover for our pool table. So now we can play ping pong or pool. Pretty cool. He did a great job. Mo is pleased with it too. He likes sitting up there.
