Me Made May

I, Sarah (aka Sparkle-Plenty.blogspot.com, IG @sparkleplenty299), sign up as a participant of Me-Made-May '18. I endeavour to wear each of my handmade items at least once in May 2018.

I also endeavor to wear it or forget/remake it. I know I have some me made items in my closet that I'm not overly fond of, so I plan to wear them once and then decide if I keep or repurpose or donate.

Lastly I endeavor to make a pair of pajamas so I can expand my me made sleepwear options.

I will document some of my items on Instagram, and will endeavor to do weekly recaps on my blog.

I am excited to participate for the first time. The Self-Sewn Wardrobe Series was very inspiring to me this year and I can't believe how much I have sewn already. I feel like I have a long list of things I'd like to sew, and have been working on planning my wardrobe more and thinking a lot about what I like to wear and what my style is. I'm looking forward to this challenge to help me continue defining my style and to sew list.

Wren Dress

I had a bit of a sewing weekend! I had cut out the Wren dress by Colette the previous weekend. I'd bought the knit fabric at Joanns ages ago. Based on how the Moneta dress fit, I knew I wanted to add length to the bodice, so I added about an inch. I made the XL size, also basing it on how the Moneta fit.

It was an interesting pattern to make with the wrap style bodice. Instructions were clear and easy to follow. As with Moneta, I gathered the skirt and attached it to the bodice instead of using clear elastic.

I really like the dress. However it is definitely a bit snug through the bust, and I think when I make it again I'll probably do some sort of full bust adjustment. I pleased with how the skirt fit, and think it fits well through the high bust. I just need more fabric to accommodate the girls. :-)

Ebony Tee

Since this is 4th time I've made the pattern (Closet Case Ebony), it's obviously a favorite!! I saw this unicorn fabric at Joann's and it just made me happy to look at it. I couldn't get it out of my mind, so I went back and bought it. There's a coordinating floral and I thought it would be fun to make a raglan tee with different fabric.

I do like the high/low hem of the raglan tee, but decided I didn't want it for this so adjust the back so it wouldn't longer. I wound up adjusting the front a bit  so the hemline matched. I honestly wouldn't do that again, as I think it affected the hang/flow a bit. But I am super happy with the coordinating fabric. It is so soft and lovely. It makes me super happy.
